00:05 - 00:11

who are

00:07 - 00:13

you you don't remember last night did we

00:11 - 00:15

this is Will Tennyson YouTube's biggest

00:13 - 00:17

Fitness Creator who's grown to over 3

00:15 - 00:19

million subscribers and 1 billion views

00:17 - 00:21

but his journey wasn't always easy I was

00:19 - 00:22

tired of going to bed crying every night

00:21 - 00:24

I was literally in tears cuz I was so

00:22 - 00:25

overworked stress was overwhelming

00:24 - 00:27

talking to some of my guys on YouTube

00:25 - 00:28

and I was like I think I'm going to quit

00:27 - 00:30

I think I'm done cuz it was like so

00:28 - 00:32

mentally taxing on me even pushed

00:30 - 00:33

himself to the Limit physically and

00:32 - 00:35

mentally I went through a pair of Nikes

00:33 - 00:36

I bled through them like literally the

00:35 - 00:38

last hour my wife was physically

00:36 - 00:39

carrying me cuz I couldn't walk then

00:38 - 00:41

something clicked and you scroll it and

00:39 - 00:43

you see that video anything after that

00:41 - 00:45

boom this is the untold story of how

00:43 - 00:47

will Tennyson went from making videos in

00:45 - 00:49

his mom's basement to becoming one of

00:47 - 00:52

YouTube's biggest

00:49 - 00:54

creators well will thanks for joining us

00:52 - 00:56

on the one of 10 podcast let's go from

00:54 - 00:57

the beginning what did you do before

00:56 - 00:59

YouTube so I was a personal trainer so I

00:57 - 01:00

was doing that full-time I I actually

00:59 - 01:01

had a pretty good like business going I

01:00 - 01:03

wasn't working at like a a commercial

01:01 - 01:04

gym I had like my own business I was

01:03 - 01:06

getting my own clients from like word of

01:04 - 01:08

mouth and stuff and then I started doing

01:06 - 01:09

YouTube as a passion project on the side

01:08 - 01:11

and the reason why I started doing

01:09 - 01:13

YouTube was because growing up in school

01:11 - 01:15

I was a very shy kid I always had the

01:13 - 01:17

option of like you can either present

01:15 - 01:19

your project in front of the class live

01:17 - 01:22

or record a video so you don't have to

01:19 - 01:23

actually be up front in real time so i'

01:22 - 01:25

would always opt to make a video and

01:23 - 01:26

then because of making those videos I

01:25 - 01:28

became like more creative and like I

01:26 - 01:30

like enjoyed like certain cuts and stuff

01:28 - 01:32

and then once I finished school I didn't

01:30 - 01:34

really have that outlet to make videos

01:32 - 01:37

and I was missing that so I started just

01:34 - 01:39

doing YouTube for fun and that slowly

01:37 - 01:42

became like such an intense passion that

01:39 - 01:44

I was taking away from my actual job

01:42 - 01:47

where I was making money right at what

01:44 - 01:48

age is that 25 2425 and then I remember

01:47 - 01:50

still doing my job my mom's like hey

01:48 - 01:52

let's go for a walk so we go we're going

01:50 - 01:54

for a walk and she's like you know I

01:52 - 01:55

really think that you need to start uh

01:54 - 01:57

building your personal training business

01:55 - 02:00

and kind of put that YouTube stuff to

01:57 - 02:02

the side yeah she's like just like it's

02:00 - 02:03

it's time to just kind of you know let's

02:02 - 02:06

let's work on what's making you money

02:03 - 02:08

mhm and I was like no no I I'm enjoying

02:06 - 02:10

this and that was in October kind of in

02:08 - 02:11

that time period that's when it all

02:10 - 02:14

really started to kind of all of a

02:11 - 02:16

sudden just blow up oh wow yeah they're

02:14 - 02:19

still in kind of disbelief today I also

02:16 - 02:21

know you were I think top 30 top 20 Halo

02:19 - 02:23

player

02:21 - 02:25

how what year yeah so let's let's talk

02:23 - 02:28

about stuff yeah so I played a hard to

02:25 - 02:30

emit amount of hours of Halo 3 right

02:28 - 02:33

yeah so lot me and my like closest

02:30 - 02:34

friends would play for hours a day even

02:33 - 02:36

on school nights I'd stay up all night I

02:34 - 02:37

put like the Turtle Beach headsets on so

02:36 - 02:38

I couldn't you couldn't hear the TV my

02:37 - 02:40

parents wouldn't know I'm playing yeah I

02:38 - 02:42

just got like I got so addicted to it

02:40 - 02:43

and just like the ranking system of that

02:42 - 02:45

game was one of the things that hooked

02:43 - 02:47

me and I just had to be like the top of

02:45 - 02:48

the game usually with everything I do

02:47 - 02:50

I'm like very like I got to try to be

02:48 - 02:52

the best at it so I got obsessed with it

02:50 - 02:54

and yeah it got to the point that I was

02:52 - 02:56

playing like MLG Major League Gaming

02:54 - 02:57

competitions and stuff you travel yeah I

02:56 - 02:59

do some like land stuff I do a lot of

02:57 - 03:00

like online stuff I thought that was

02:59 - 03:02

going to be my life were you making

03:00 - 03:04

money from that what was the No No No

03:02 - 03:05

Yeah I would have like maybe like Dr

03:04 - 03:07

Pepper sent me a couple cans and I was

03:05 - 03:08

like yeah let's go and then okay that

03:07 - 03:10

was at grade n right grade eight grade n

03:08 - 03:13

yeah and while doing that you were also

03:10 - 03:16

a hockey player on team Canada so I was

03:13 - 03:18

hockey player we traveled Europe as Team

03:16 - 03:20

Canada so we played a lot of like the

03:18 - 03:22

the top like teams in Switzerland

03:20 - 03:24

Germany yeah we did like a whole twoe

03:22 - 03:26

trip where we just like went out and W

03:24 - 03:28

played all the top teams and at that

03:26 - 03:30

time we were like 14 15 were you doing

03:28 - 03:33

both at the same time the LG competition

03:30 - 03:34

and the hockey yeah how did you manage

03:33 - 03:36

that gaming gaming through the night and

03:34 - 03:38

then hockey in the the reasonable hours

03:36 - 03:39

of the night so when 10: p.m. comes

03:38 - 03:41

people think it's bedtime for me that's

03:39 - 03:43

5 more hours at least a video game seems

03:41 - 03:44

like you're killing it everywhere you go

03:43 - 03:47

right this is where it all started and

03:44 - 03:48

then you started YouTube so can you tell

03:47 - 03:50

us more about this room so I mean a lot

03:48 - 03:52

of Firsts in this room that's for sure

03:50 - 03:54

some I don't want to really admit but in

03:52 - 03:56

terms of Fitness you know this was kind

03:54 - 03:58

of like where it all started my dad got

03:56 - 04:00

me into the gym he put like a couple

03:58 - 04:01

pieces of paper on the wall with a few

04:00 - 04:04

like really basic workouts like do a

04:01 - 04:05

couple dumbbell curls and stuff so like

04:04 - 04:07

the reason he actually got me into

04:05 - 04:09

lifting was because I was I had an

04:07 - 04:11

eating disorder where I lost a lot of

04:09 - 04:12

weight like super quickly I was like

04:11 - 04:14

very weak and you know so he was like

04:12 - 04:16

sneaking olive oil in my in my protein

04:14 - 04:17

shakes for me to get calories in he's

04:16 - 04:19

like okay he's like you got to start

04:17 - 04:21

building some muscle here so he got me

04:19 - 04:23

going that changed your life yeah so and

04:21 - 04:25

it's kind of funny cuz I'm transforming

04:23 - 04:26

him now for a video so it's kind of like

04:25 - 04:28

it's it's cool how it's like a full

04:26 - 04:29

circle moment but yeah so I started

04:28 - 04:31

coming down here just doing some very

04:29 - 04:32

basic stuff and then you know you start

04:31 - 04:34

to see that progress pretty quick cuz

04:32 - 04:35

you're pretty new to it and uh you see

04:34 - 04:38

like the bicep vein and then you kind of

04:35 - 04:40

get hooked and from there I finally

04:38 - 04:42

built up some like confidence to get a

04:40 - 04:43

gym membership I like to think that a

04:42 - 04:46

lot of people like to watch my channel

04:43 - 04:48

because I've been bigger I've been super

04:46 - 04:50

skinny so I've been kind of all Spectrum

04:48 - 04:52

so I can relate to a lot of people you

04:50 - 04:54

know so whenever whenever I make videos

04:52 - 04:55

I can sympathize and I can understand

04:54 - 04:56

where a lot of people yeah cuz a lot of

04:55 - 04:58

guys are just like they've only ever

04:56 - 05:00

grown up skinny and jacked so they kind

04:58 - 05:02

of don't understand the struggle

05:00 - 05:04

of you know dealing with body image

05:02 - 05:07

issues just being bigger so I think that

05:04 - 05:09

the perspectives that I bring are you

05:07 - 05:10

know more relatable more refreshing the

05:09 - 05:12

tread mode where I spent way too much

05:10 - 05:13

time on because when I lost all the

05:12 - 05:14

weight I was just running for some

05:13 - 05:15

reason I was afraid of Weights but I was

05:14 - 05:17

just like I'm going to come on here and

05:15 - 05:19

just run I was like almost like Marathon

05:17 - 05:20

level I I probably could have run a

05:19 - 05:22

marathon pretty easily are you going to

05:20 - 05:23

do it no definitely not anymore added

05:22 - 05:24

this like cable thing where it's a kind

05:23 - 05:27

of like a bow Flex it's like an

05:24 - 05:29

all-in-one mhm um the bench press and

05:27 - 05:31

then a lot of people who maybe watch

05:29 - 05:33

this with no Ali's gym with my dog who

05:31 - 05:36

started the the Channel with me people

05:33 - 05:37

liked him more than me understandably we

05:36 - 05:40

would do like the intros together and he

05:37 - 05:42

became very much like the main character

05:40 - 05:45

and uh when he passed away we actually

05:42 - 05:47

did like a a merch drop for for him and

05:45 - 05:48

then all the proceeds went to the SPCA

05:47 - 05:50

oh that's nice and that was the first

05:48 - 05:52

time we we actually sold out everything

05:50 - 05:54

in like 10 minutes the site crashed oh

05:52 - 05:55

wow yeah so it was cool and like it just

05:54 - 05:57

it was like a very that probably one of

05:55 - 05:59

my favorite moments cuz it just like the

05:57 - 06:01

love that people had for this dog that

05:59 - 06:04

they don't even really know it it was

06:01 - 06:05

cool it was a nice Community uh exactly

06:04 - 06:07

yeah yeah and even still to this day

06:05 - 06:08

people are like oh I miss him and you

06:07 - 06:09

know it took me a long time to like I

06:08 - 06:12

was like I'm never going to get a dog

06:09 - 06:13

again cuz I never really remembered life

06:12 - 06:16

without him cuz when I got him I was

06:13 - 06:18

only like 12 I got Boba now and it's

06:16 - 06:20

it's uh it's kind of nice it's it's nice

06:18 - 06:22

to to have a new dog now yeah the Zero

06:20 - 06:24

Subs days so when you first started

06:22 - 06:26

YouTube what was the first video the

06:24 - 06:28

first video was I did 10,000 calories in

06:26 - 06:30

Halo top ice cream yeah because I kind

06:28 - 06:32

of have like I mean my my older sister

06:30 - 06:33

is a lawyer my younger sister is a

06:32 - 06:35

doctor and then I'm just kind of like

06:33 - 06:36

nothing I guess my superpowers is I can

06:35 - 06:38

eat a lot of food so I was like I'm

06:36 - 06:40

going to try eating as much low calorie

06:38 - 06:42

ice cream as possible it's never been

06:40 - 06:44

done so that was my first video and it

06:42 - 06:46

it destroyed my stomach and how did that

06:44 - 06:49

uh perform like what was your growth

06:46 - 06:52

like I remember specifically after one

06:49 - 06:54

day it had 89 views okay W specific

06:52 - 06:55

number I remember specifically that 89

06:54 - 06:57

views kind of going like that I didn't

06:55 - 06:58

care though like when I first started I

06:57 - 06:59

actually didn't even know you could have

06:58 - 07:01

a career on YouTube or even make money

06:59 - 07:03

on YouTube I was just simply uploading

07:01 - 07:05

to YouTube with no intention of anyone

07:03 - 07:07

watching the videos yeah which happens

07:05 - 07:09

often and I think that was actually like

07:07 - 07:11

a huge blessing that I didn't have any

07:09 - 07:13

expectations for myself I was just like

07:11 - 07:16

just having fun and I like one of my

07:13 - 07:19

like fifth videos I I did like Mark

07:16 - 07:21

Wahlberg's routine and I remember my mom

07:19 - 07:24

she goes to Orange Theory that that like

07:21 - 07:26

Comm like that public uh hit training

07:24 - 07:27

class yeah and she's like oh I hope you

07:26 - 07:29

don't mind but I told everyone that you

07:27 - 07:31

you made this video and I'm like oh my

07:29 - 07:34

God God Mom I got like so embarrassed

07:31 - 07:35

and I yeah cuz I had no intention but

07:34 - 07:36

now and then like now it's funny cuz now

07:35 - 07:37

she's like oh do you mind if I tell

07:36 - 07:39

people that you made this I'm like yeah

07:37 - 07:41

go ahead like you know yeah so I mean it

07:39 - 07:42

was just kind of like slowly like once a

07:41 - 07:45

week I was doing it and then I came into

07:42 - 07:47

like twice a week I was doing it and I

07:45 - 07:49

was twice a week filming and then also

07:47 - 07:51

editing my videos so it became very

07:49 - 07:52

life-c consuming really quick yeah and

07:51 - 07:53

then the growth started to kind of

07:52 - 07:55

gradually just kind of go it went from

07:53 - 07:56

like nothing to like boom like really

07:55 - 07:58

quick I'm like oh okay I guess I'm doing

07:56 - 07:59

this full time I kind of just like never

07:58 - 08:01

intended to do it I wanted to be a chef

07:59 - 08:02

I was going to go to cord on BL school

08:01 - 08:03

oh you wanted to be a chef I wanted to

08:02 - 08:05

be a chef I wanted to go to C on BL in

08:03 - 08:06

Ottawa open a restaurant and I was going

08:05 - 08:07

to go and then all of a sudden I hit

08:06 - 08:09

like I was making money doing this and I

08:07 - 08:10

was like okay let's just try this and

08:09 - 08:11

see how this goes for like a year and

08:10 - 08:14

then I'm like okay well I guess I'm

08:11 - 08:16

doing this you grew from 0 to 10K Subs

08:14 - 08:18

in in just 6 months and you'd say the

08:16 - 08:20

Mark Walberg video is the one that that

08:18 - 08:22

blew you up at that time I wouldn't say

08:20 - 08:23

there was one video it was like all of

08:22 - 08:26

them were kind of like low and then all

08:23 - 08:28

of the sudden randomly it was like and

08:26 - 08:30

at that time you were posting twice a

08:28 - 08:32

week yeah just for just for fun at that

08:30 - 08:34

time not not the goal to be a full-time

08:32 - 08:37

YouTuber who were you watching at that

08:34 - 08:39

time who are your I was watching a lot

08:37 - 08:41

of Max tuning I don't know if you know

08:39 - 08:44

him right yeah a lot of Max tuning a lot

08:41 - 08:46

sold his candy yeah a lot of Christian

08:44 - 08:48

Guzman um I really yeah I really watched

08:46 - 08:50

like those guys a lot like uh I didn't

08:48 - 08:52

have a lot of friends in in school so

08:50 - 08:53

like I just that's kind of like where I

08:52 - 08:54

would just gravitate towards I sit down

08:53 - 08:56

and just like watch and like the reason

08:54 - 08:58

why I like them is because they were so

08:56 - 08:59

like personable and it almost just

08:58 - 09:01

seemed like they were talking to you it

08:59 - 09:03

wasn't like overly produced and it was

09:01 - 09:04

like very vloggy right and then that's

09:03 - 09:06

kind of like what resonated with me

09:04 - 09:09

which kind of inspired my content now

09:06 - 09:11

yeah did you have an Instagram popping

09:09 - 09:14

at that time or that came after yeah I'm

09:11 - 09:15

very I'm not very social media at all

09:14 - 09:16

like still I'm not like I get in trouble

09:15 - 09:18

all the time like oh you don't post

09:16 - 09:20

enough Instagrams like I never hit my

09:18 - 09:22

quotas for stuff cuz I I I'm very like

09:20 - 09:24

I'm very quiet reserved don't like

09:22 - 09:27

center of attention not not about

09:24 - 09:29

posting my life I very much have like my

09:27 - 09:31

YouTube and then me you'd say you're

09:29 - 09:32

introvert or I would say I'm like an

09:31 - 09:34

introvert extrovert I can put it on if I

09:32 - 09:36

need to put it on right I'm not shy at

09:34 - 09:38

all like I'll I'll be an idiot like

09:36 - 09:40

anywhere it's more like I I don't have a

09:38 - 09:44

lot to say got it yeah you won't shut

09:40 - 09:46

the [ __ ] up right now so 100K to a

09:44 - 09:50

million Subs that was a crazy ride for

09:46 - 09:52

for 2 years as I saw is there one or few

09:50 - 09:54

video that you think helped you pop I

09:52 - 09:56

don't know if it was specifically videos

09:54 - 09:59

but more about my approach to the videos

09:56 - 10:01

okay where I kind of went less personal

09:59 - 10:03

with my content when less less less

10:01 - 10:04

personal in terms of like I was still

10:03 - 10:06

personal in my videos but you had to

10:04 - 10:08

click the video to find out who I was as

10:06 - 10:10

a person so like the concepts were a lot

10:08 - 10:12

more broad so like I think before I did

10:10 - 10:14

a mixture of you know C celebrity

10:12 - 10:16

routines and all that stuff but I did do

10:14 - 10:16

a lot of Vlogs full days of eating

10:16 - 10:19

things where you actually have to know

10:16 - 10:20

who I was personally to watch the video

10:19 - 10:22

and then I started kind of like

10:20 - 10:24

implementing in more Mass Appeal

10:22 - 10:26

Concepts where it just like it's

10:24 - 10:27

generally interesting so you click on it

10:26 - 10:29

and then you kind of learn about who I

10:27 - 10:31

was as a person you know through the

10:29 - 10:34

content yeah so I just noticed like just

10:31 - 10:36

from having more Mass Appeal videos you

10:34 - 10:37

just get more clicks and that's kind of

10:36 - 10:39

how things started to kind of even go

10:37 - 10:42

faster actually one that I have in mind

10:39 - 10:44

is uh my fat loss tips right yeah that

10:42 - 10:47

was one my first ever yeah exactly and I

10:44 - 10:49

think that brought one of the most uh

10:47 - 10:50

amount of subscribers for you yeah how

10:49 - 10:52

did you think of that video that one was

10:50 - 10:53

funny because I I filmed it I was just

10:52 - 10:56

on my couch and I was like it was so

10:53 - 10:57

simple there was nothing really to it I

10:56 - 10:59

think it kind of goes back to what I was

10:57 - 11:01

saying in my basement where yeah like I

10:59 - 11:03

was a kid who who I've done at all where

11:01 - 11:05

I was big and I was skinny so I was just

11:03 - 11:07

giving you like my like my just like

11:05 - 11:08

genuine advice from being both of those

11:07 - 11:10

sides so I just think there was like a

11:08 - 11:11

more of a relatability to what I was

11:10 - 11:13

saying more of an interest to what I was

11:11 - 11:14

saying and it was funny I I was

11:13 - 11:16

surprised I did so well cuz I thought

11:14 - 11:18

that the advice that I gave just seems

11:16 - 11:19

so basic but it it seems to like

11:18 - 11:21

resonate with so many people five

11:19 - 11:23

million views yeah and and those are the

11:21 - 11:25

videos that like make me feel the best

11:23 - 11:27

cuz like you know like the simple videos

11:25 - 11:29

where it's just me in like the simplest

11:27 - 11:30

way I feel very fulfilled by that cuz

11:29 - 11:32

I'm like okay well people are watching

11:30 - 11:34

this because of the value that I'm

11:32 - 11:37

bringing watching it for me rather than

11:34 - 11:39

me having like a massive Banger collab

11:37 - 11:41

or this like crazy video where I'm going

11:39 - 11:43

to go see something where it's not

11:41 - 11:44

really about me that's making the video

11:43 - 11:46

do well it's about like what I'm

11:44 - 11:47

currently doing right so it's just nice

11:46 - 11:49

when the simple ones do well well

11:47 - 11:51

actually talking about that being

11:49 - 11:53

fulfilled by uh with that video what is

11:51 - 11:54

the actual reason of the whole channel

11:53 - 11:56

the reason of the whole channel was like

11:54 - 11:57

when I started watching YouTube I again

11:56 - 11:59

I was saying like I didn't have a lot of

11:57 - 12:01

like friends I didn't go out that much

11:59 - 12:02

I used it kind of like as an outlet for

12:01 - 12:05

like happiness I was dealing a lot with

12:02 - 12:06

body image issues and and never really

12:05 - 12:08

like I was just always like kind of like

12:06 - 12:09

trying to beat myself up and never

12:08 - 12:11

really happy with anything about myself

12:09 - 12:15

but when I was watching YouTube I would

12:11 - 12:16

laugh right you know I'd forget and uh

12:15 - 12:18

it was just kind of like that like

12:16 - 12:20

Escape for me yeah and I just felt like

12:18 - 12:22

I just felt really good and I kind of

12:20 - 12:24

want to be that for kids who were in my

12:22 - 12:26

position so it's kind of just like

12:24 - 12:28

trying to be like the max tuning and

12:26 - 12:30

Christian Guzman that they were for me

12:28 - 12:34

there was a a few other videos that

12:30 - 12:36

stand out to my mind the 100K steps how

12:34 - 12:37

can you talk more about that one because

12:36 - 12:39

I think that one blew up you well

12:37 - 12:41

unfortunately I still deal with the

12:39 - 12:44

issues today of that okay what do you

12:41 - 12:45

mean I I destroyed my knee doing it yeah

12:44 - 12:47

so I got a a tellar tear doing that

12:45 - 12:50

video okay yeah so I I started that I I

12:47 - 12:54

woke up at 4: in the morning and I just

12:50 - 12:58

walked until literally like 11:59 it was

12:54 - 13:00

85 km I walked that day okay like two

12:58 - 13:01

marathons I went threw a pair of Nikes I

13:00 - 13:03

bled through them you bled through I

13:01 - 13:05

bled through those yeah so while you

13:03 - 13:06

were bleeding you were you you just went

13:05 - 13:08

I was still walking like literally the

13:06 - 13:10

last hour my wife was physically

13:08 - 13:11

carrying me cuz I couldn't walk like so

13:10 - 13:12

she like take me to the car and I just

13:11 - 13:13

like like that was probably one of the

13:12 - 13:16

hardest videos I've ever done do you

13:13 - 13:18

regret it if it's if it's under 5

13:16 - 13:21

million views I heavily regret it and I

13:18 - 13:23

think it is under 5 million 1.5 million

13:21 - 13:25

views the answer is yes I regret it

13:23 - 13:27

heavily okay and you're still feeling

13:25 - 13:29

still feeling it okay and there's no

13:27 - 13:32

I've tried everything talk that is there

13:29 - 13:34

any other videos where it actually

13:32 - 13:37

injured you long term no that's that's

13:34 - 13:39

it yeah I'm lucky I've almost choked to

13:37 - 13:41

death on a donut one time that was

13:39 - 13:43

behind the scenes never actually aired

13:41 - 13:45

yeah that was that was a low moment but

13:43 - 13:47

yeah in terms of like actual physical

13:45 - 13:49

pain that's not too bad yeah so yeah I'm

13:47 - 13:50

overall good and I'm actually wondering

13:49 - 13:53

as well what is what was your hardest

13:50 - 13:56

video you've ever filmed the hardest

13:53 - 13:58

video by far was a couple years ago I

13:56 - 13:59

went to the US Marine base and I did

13:58 - 14:02

like the fitness test

13:59 - 14:04

but what no one knows was is that I had

14:02 - 14:06

the worst food poisoning of my entire

14:04 - 14:09

life for 3 days prior to that I was like

14:06 - 14:11

so we landed in la oh okay we went for

14:09 - 14:14

dinner I was bedridden I lost 13 lbs in

14:11 - 14:16

3 days like I was like pale like I

14:14 - 14:18

couldn't even move I I I flew down for

14:16 - 14:19

that video I got up and I was like I I I

14:18 - 14:22

came all this way to do the video I'm

14:19 - 14:24

doing it so I did that video like the

14:22 - 14:26

most sick I've ever been in my life so I

14:24 - 14:27

I didn't do the best I I could have on

14:26 - 14:29

the fitness test I was getting roasted

14:27 - 14:30

in the comments right but I just I

14:29 - 14:32

didn't want to be one of those guys like

14:30 - 14:35

oh I was I was sick but that was like

14:32 - 14:37

the most physically taxing video I've

14:35 - 14:39

ever done but that did well though in

14:37 - 14:41

terms of views yeah I think so yeah yeah

14:39 - 14:43

yeah also at that time you were you said

14:41 - 14:45

you were uploading twice a week right I

14:43 - 14:47

start I was still uploading twice a week

14:45 - 14:49

yeah and then I eventually went down to

14:47 - 14:52

six so it' be like two one week one the

14:49 - 14:53

next week 21 21 okay yeah and then it

14:52 - 14:56

went to 1 one one and then now it's one

14:53 - 14:58

every 10 days can you tell the viewers

14:56 - 15:00

why why you switch from two times a week

14:58 - 15:02

to to less and less do know every 10 I

15:00 - 15:04

was tired of going to bed crying every

15:02 - 15:06

night cuz I were you actually crying I

15:04 - 15:07

was literally in tears why were you

15:06 - 15:09

crying because I was so overworked it

15:07 - 15:12

was like I had a videographer at the

15:09 - 15:13

time right so we would shoot all day he

15:12 - 15:15

hands me the SD card he gets to go home

15:13 - 15:16

and enjoy the night he gives me the SD

15:15 - 15:18

card I have to plug it in I have to

15:16 - 15:20

start editing cuz if you're if you if

15:18 - 15:22

you're uploading twice twice a week it's

15:20 - 15:24

like you got to shoot then you got to

15:22 - 15:27

edit upload what's the next video plan

15:24 - 15:28

it shoot upload so I had like no free

15:27 - 15:30

time in like like my girlfriend who's

15:28 - 15:32

now my wife was just like say can we see

15:30 - 15:33

each other for a bit I'm like yeah no I

15:32 - 15:35

can't like you know so it was like I had

15:33 - 15:38

no time for anything else but why though

15:35 - 15:39

why were you so let's say obsessed in

15:38 - 15:41

making it happen I think because I was

15:39 - 15:42

seeing the growth so fast and like I was

15:41 - 15:44

getting like I got like my first

15:42 - 15:46

paycheck which was motivating and like I

15:44 - 15:49

was like what was the first paycheck

15:46 - 15:51

yeah $8,000 $8,000 ,000 that was like in

15:49 - 15:53

that was in December and it was just I

15:51 - 15:55

was I was a very Money Motivated kid

15:53 - 15:57

yeah so like when I saw that I was like

15:55 - 16:00

oh [ __ ] okay it's like the more I do the

15:57 - 16:04

better that kind true cuz you blew up

16:00 - 16:05

from 10K Subs to uh to 100K in in just a

16:04 - 16:06

month yeah so I was just like a work

16:05 - 16:09

machine I was like I'm going to do

16:06 - 16:11

whatever I can to to do this and I don't

16:09 - 16:13

regret it did you knew at that time you

16:11 - 16:15

were going all in full-time did you stop

16:13 - 16:17

your uh personal trainer work at that

16:15 - 16:20

time okay the second I got that paycheck

16:17 - 16:22

I like I'm done okay you went all in

16:20 - 16:24

risking it all yeah so yeah we're now at

16:22 - 16:26

around 700k Subs right from what I

16:24 - 16:29

understood there was a downt ter what

16:26 - 16:31

happened so Co happened Okay so so at

16:29 - 16:33

the beginning of Co especially in Canada

16:31 - 16:35

we were really like limited to what we

16:33 - 16:37

could do so I was shooting a lot more in

16:35 - 16:39

my house mhm and making it happen it was

16:37 - 16:40

like doing it was fine it was working

16:39 - 16:42

but I was getting kind of bored and I

16:40 - 16:44

was also getting kind of like worried

16:42 - 16:46

because like all my I I don't know if I

16:44 - 16:47

call them competition but just every

16:46 - 16:49

everyone else in my Niche was like in

16:47 - 16:51

the states able to actually live their

16:49 - 16:53

lives so I was like oh like you know if

16:51 - 16:55

I'm if I'm like doing pretty decent in

16:53 - 16:56

my basement and in my kitchen like

16:55 - 16:57

making videos like if I go away to the

16:56 - 16:58

states like probably it's going to be

16:57 - 16:59

like way better cuz it's going to be

16:58 - 17:01

like the going to see a different change

16:59 - 17:04

of scenery and all that stuff I was like

17:01 - 17:07

okay sweet so I booked like a 3-we trip

17:04 - 17:11

where I went and I shot like 16 or 17

17:07 - 17:13

videos 16 17 videos in 3 weeks what two

17:11 - 17:16

videos per week you had 17 so it was

17:13 - 17:17

good for like 2 3 months exactly W those

17:16 - 17:19

videos started coming out and they just

17:17 - 17:23

started doing so bad what what was so

17:19 - 17:25

bad at the time at 700,000 so I so I

17:23 - 17:28

would say like my good videos i' be

17:25 - 17:29

getting like you know 600,000 views

17:28 - 17:33

500,000

17:29 - 17:37

like that these ones like May hitting

17:33 - 17:38

150 wow so hu huge flash right and and

17:37 - 17:39

the on top of it I was in I was in

17:38 - 17:42

quarantine right I was just like in my

17:39 - 17:44

condo like literally like so depressed

17:42 - 17:45

and that's when everything was booming

17:44 - 17:47

actually that's everything was booming

17:45 - 17:48

good and then I I came home and I put

17:47 - 17:50

these videos out and then it was going

17:48 - 17:52

so bad I couldn't leave my house like

17:50 - 17:54

all these factors I couldn't go to the

17:52 - 17:55

gym and I was just feeling so [ __ ] and I

17:54 - 17:56

was like talking to some of my guys on

17:55 - 17:58

YouTube and I was like yo guys like I

17:56 - 17:59

think I'm I think this is it for me I

17:58 - 18:01

was like I think I'm going to quit I

17:59 - 18:03

think I'm done like I was I was heavily

18:01 - 18:05

considering just being like this is it

18:03 - 18:07

I'm like done cuz it was like so

18:05 - 18:09

mentally like like taxing on me so you

18:07 - 18:11

were actually considering okay this is

18:09 - 18:13

enough for me yeah I was like I actually

18:11 - 18:16

thought that was it wow for sure and

18:13 - 18:18

then I don't know how do you get out of

18:16 - 18:19

that hole then I I kind of went back to

18:18 - 18:22

like I was looking at like what I was

18:19 - 18:24

doing before and I was like okay I when

18:22 - 18:26

I went away I did way too much vloggy

18:24 - 18:28

stuff okay again I was like I kind of

18:26 - 18:30

just like it was like way too personal

18:28 - 18:31

mhm and I was like why am I doing this I

18:30 - 18:33

was like okay I got to come back with a

18:31 - 18:36

banger okay so I was like I'm going to

18:33 - 18:37

do Michael phelps's diet and training

18:36 - 18:39

okay whereas like the 12,000 calorie

18:37 - 18:41

diet and like all that like insane like

18:39 - 18:42

the insane training routine I'm like I'm

18:41 - 18:45

just going to come back with like a huge

18:42 - 18:47

hitter and like make sure that why why

18:45 - 18:49

Michael Phelps got at the time was he

18:47 - 18:52

already retired or so he at the time

18:49 - 18:54

like his his diet was like very like

18:52 - 18:55

like people were speaking about it

18:54 - 18:57

celebrity routines in general were just

18:55 - 18:59

doing well and especially for like in

18:57 - 19:02

the fitness Niche anything with a lot of

18:59 - 19:03

calories right would would usually hit

19:02 - 19:05

so I'm like okay I'm going to do this so

19:03 - 19:07

you continued studying seeing what

19:05 - 19:09

worked exactly so then I started just

19:07 - 19:10

being like becoming a little bit more

19:09 - 19:11

selective I dropped down the amount of

19:10 - 19:14

videos I was doing so I went from 2 a

19:11 - 19:16

week down to like 21 21 which was

19:14 - 19:18

actually a lot you you don't think about

19:16 - 19:19

two videos less a month is huge right so

19:18 - 19:22

it gave me more time to actually think

19:19 - 19:24

about things ideation and optimization

19:22 - 19:25

optimization yeah and I kind of slowly

19:24 - 19:27

got back to where I kind of was you know

19:25 - 19:30

for a bit and then and then it kind of

19:27 - 19:31

then another level happens and guys

19:30 - 19:33

optimization does work let me tell you

20:23 - 20:27

and for me I'm like if if I know I can

20:25 - 20:29

perform at a certain level that's like

20:27 - 20:30

my that's my Basel line standard right

20:29 - 20:32

so if I see myself going below that I

20:30 - 20:34

have to ask myself the question what's

20:32 - 20:37

going on like what why why is it this

20:34 - 20:39

way if I can do this why am I here like

20:37 - 20:40

what am I doing differently and the fact

20:39 - 20:42

that I know I can do it it's kind of

20:40 - 20:43

like that motivating factor kind I get

20:42 - 20:44

back to that and then I also just I

20:43 - 20:46

think everyone just wants to get better

20:44 - 20:48

right I think being I think being

20:46 - 20:51

content with what you have is great we

20:48 - 20:53

should still strive to you know slightly

20:51 - 20:55

improve and yeah so I think I think once

20:53 - 20:56

I hit that like you know that 1 million

20:55 - 21:00

and things were kind of going back to

20:56 - 21:02

normal I the the big pivotal change for

21:00 - 21:04

me was I had my editor who I didn't know

21:02 - 21:05

at the time he reached out to me and was

21:04 - 21:07

like yo can I like can I edit one of

21:05 - 21:09

your videos for free oh well and he's

21:07 - 21:11

like yeah I'm just like I love your your

21:09 - 21:13

your channel like I just think just give

21:11 - 21:14

me give me one chance yeah right and I

21:13 - 21:15

think like when you have a YouTube

21:14 - 21:17

channel that's like decently large like

21:15 - 21:19

giving someone the chance to edit your

21:17 - 21:21

video is like a huge risk because I miss

21:19 - 21:22

an upload day and stuff and he was like

21:21 - 21:23

so sure he's like dude I'm going to I'm

21:22 - 21:25

going to deliver this video like and

21:23 - 21:27

it's going to be like amazing and I'm

21:25 - 21:29

like okay I let him so I let him do it

21:27 - 21:30

and he gave me the video and he just

21:29 - 21:32

blew me away because until then you were

21:30 - 21:33

editing everything so I was editing

21:32 - 21:34

everything that I had I had another

21:33 - 21:36

editor who was was working with too and

21:34 - 21:38

it was different it was not like YouTube

21:36 - 21:39

optimized he didn't watch YouTube he

21:38 - 21:40

didn't consume it he was more like in

21:39 - 21:42

like the cinema background so it was a

21:40 - 21:44

lot more slow paced like establishing

21:42 - 21:47

shots you know where this guy was like I

21:44 - 21:48

study YouTube I watch YouTube I

21:47 - 21:50

understand some of the algorithm hacks

21:48 - 21:52

and stuff right and I then I watched the

21:50 - 21:53

video I'm like holy [ __ ] and then we put

21:52 - 21:57

that one out and that was like my

21:53 - 21:59

fastest growing video ever oh wow yeah

21:57 - 22:01

and then ever since that one video what

21:59 - 22:03

was the title it was um the best versus

22:01 - 22:05

worst gym in Miami and ever since that

22:03 - 22:07

video that that was like the the

22:05 - 22:09

changing part of my channel to this day

22:07 - 22:11

that video if you look at my channel and

22:09 - 22:13

you scroll it and you see that video

22:11 - 22:15

anything after that boom ooh that's

22:13 - 22:19

super interesting when when was that

22:15 - 22:21

that was 2022 why do you think it blew

22:19 - 22:23

up better editing better retention I I

22:21 - 22:26

had more confidence I feel like there's

22:23 - 22:27

a huge there's a huge bonus like working

22:26 - 22:28

with an editor that you're confident in

22:27 - 22:29

like even if you don't feel necessarily

22:28 - 22:30

confident in sometimes what you're

22:29 - 22:32

shooting you know that they're going to

22:30 - 22:34

help like turn it into something great

22:32 - 22:36

and he had the eye for that he and I

22:34 - 22:37

find he's like a super funny dude so in

22:36 - 22:39

moments where there wasn't really

22:37 - 22:41

anything funny he made the scene funny

22:39 - 22:42

by like maybe like a slight cut in you

22:41 - 22:44

know adding some certain animation and

22:42 - 22:45

I'm like watching I'm like oh my God

22:44 - 22:48

this is like he added so much of a

22:45 - 22:50

personality to the videos yeah and uh

22:48 - 22:51

seeing those numbers kind of start to go

22:50 - 22:53

up like motivated me to be like okay

22:51 - 22:54

let's try this let's do this and like I

22:53 - 22:56

kind of was like okay this worked really

22:54 - 22:57

well so now let's do the best versus

22:56 - 22:59

worst gyms in New York so kind of

22:57 - 23:00

learning the idea of doubling down

22:59 - 23:02

that's what I always say you're one

23:00 - 23:04

video away from blowing up and actually

23:02 - 23:06

one video away of changing your life

23:04 - 23:08

which which we can see that here we

23:06 - 23:10

always see like a phase of for a

23:08 - 23:12

YouTuber to go up then it goes down then

23:10 - 23:14

Plateau but then there will be that one

23:12 - 23:15

video that goes up and then if you learn

23:14 - 23:17

from it then you can double down and

23:15 - 23:18

triple down format yeah yeah and that's

23:17 - 23:20

when I that's when I learned that like

23:18 - 23:22

it's so important to have people on your

23:20 - 23:24

team who know more than you I used to of

23:22 - 23:25

my videos I used to think I was decent

23:24 - 23:27

he's he can kick my ass like he's way

23:25 - 23:29

better so it's like he I think he's the

23:27 - 23:31

best like what does for that so it's

23:29 - 23:33

like I learn from him my videographer

23:31 - 23:34

guy he's amazing I could never do what

23:33 - 23:35

he does so it's like finding the best

23:34 - 23:38

people for your team and just like

23:35 - 23:39

letting them be the whole team um editor

23:38 - 23:41

videographer a guy who does my

23:39 - 23:42

thumbnails and then I have a guy who

23:41 - 23:45

helps me with pre-production and they're

23:42 - 23:46

all they're all like super smart and

23:45 - 23:48

like if it wasn't for all of them

23:46 - 23:49

together it wouldn't be what it is so

23:48 - 23:52

what does the revenue look like broken

23:49 - 23:54

down like in percentage probably the the

23:52 - 23:55

ad sense where it's like it's relatively

23:54 - 23:57

the same I could give you like a a range

23:55 - 24:00

that would be like pretty accurate that

23:57 - 24:02

I can like rely on on and then probably

24:00 - 24:04

after that it would be like sponsorships

24:02 - 24:06

and and that would be like Integrations

24:04 - 24:08

like women Integrations how how are you

24:06 - 24:10

handling sponsorships so I work with an

24:08 - 24:12

agency okay yeah so I've been working

24:10 - 24:14

with the same guy his name is Chaz I've

24:12 - 24:16

been working with him for almost 3 years

24:14 - 24:17

now oh wow yeah okay that's rare that I

24:16 - 24:19

hear a long-term relationship like that

24:17 - 24:21

with a manager how did that start and he

24:19 - 24:22

actually he approached me and he just

24:21 - 24:23

seemed like he was just like hey like

24:22 - 24:25

let me just see what I can like I can

24:23 - 24:26

show you what I can do and and then it

24:25 - 24:28

was good and he seems like he was just a

24:26 - 24:29

good guy and how did he prove he was

24:28 - 24:31

good he just he was just like bringing

24:29 - 24:32

me opportunities there's a lot of like

24:31 - 24:33

the basic ones that you get and then

24:32 - 24:34

there's like a little bit more of like

24:33 - 24:36

the unique ones right and he'd brings

24:34 - 24:37

some of those ones okay and also he's

24:36 - 24:39

very patient with me because I turn a

24:37 - 24:42

lot of them down because I'm like unless

24:39 - 24:44

I really really really like it I'll I

24:42 - 24:45

won't do it because I think it takes

24:44 - 24:47

away from the video so he he he gets all

24:45 - 24:48

these like really good opportunities and

24:47 - 24:50

I'm like no and he gets like mad but he

24:48 - 24:52

still sticks with it cuz he like he

24:50 - 24:55

understands what would be number three

24:52 - 24:57

cookbook cookbook okay cookbook and then

24:55 - 24:59

like other then then after kind of let's

24:57 - 25:00

talk about cookbook I'm sure it's really

24:59 - 25:03

surprising for a lot right wouldn't be

25:00 - 25:04

the first business people think so how

25:03 - 25:06

how did that start the cookbook so when

25:04 - 25:09

I first started YouTube almost all of my

25:06 - 25:10

videos would end with a recipe of some

25:09 - 25:13

degree mhm and then people got kind of

25:10 - 25:15

used to that and then I kind of almost

25:13 - 25:17

became known as like a cooking YouTuber

25:15 - 25:20

alongside the fitness YouTube stuff okay

25:17 - 25:22

not so much anymore I rarely do it but

25:20 - 25:25

it like cooking was a big part of my

25:22 - 25:26

like identity online and uh people were

25:25 - 25:28

like making videos and like reviewing

25:26 - 25:30

some of my stuff and so then we came up

25:28 - 25:31

with the idea of like let's get all of

25:30 - 25:33

the the recipes I've cooked on all my

25:31 - 25:35

Chanel like all my videos and put let's

25:33 - 25:36

package them into one so we kind of took

25:35 - 25:38

that concept we like package a lot of

25:36 - 25:40

stuff I've done on the videos and then I

25:38 - 25:42

also added recipes to make a book and

25:40 - 25:44

then it was it was an ebook copy so

25:42 - 25:46

people get it like instantly which a

25:44 - 25:47

great thing and then we also have like a

25:46 - 25:49

video link so you can like click on it

25:47 - 25:50

and then it takes you to like showing me

25:49 - 25:52

cooking it with with with you if you

25:50 - 25:54

want to do that so that's been a big

25:52 - 25:56

success and then we're we're working on

25:54 - 25:58

more recipes now to add to it get it to

25:56 - 26:00

100 recipes and do you want to IAL book

25:58 - 26:02

that's what we're working on right now

26:00 - 26:04

ooh yeah okay yeah coming soon coming

26:02 - 26:06

soon this year yeah okay so cookbook

26:04 - 26:08

number three how many are you selling

26:06 - 26:09

like what's the I have not checked that

26:08 - 26:12

in a very long time but it's it's a

26:09 - 26:13

reliable number that always it's like

26:12 - 26:15

even though I don't really promote stuff

26:13 - 26:16

I'm not I'm not a big promoter in

26:15 - 26:18

general but it's one of those ones that

26:16 - 26:21

it's like constantly like God it's a

26:18 - 26:23

surprise do you so so you never promote

26:21 - 26:24

it at all in videos not as not as much

26:23 - 26:26

as I should there's a link and then my

26:24 - 26:29

link Tree in my Instagram and people

26:26 - 26:31

find it cuz that's your own business so

26:29 - 26:34

that should come in fluently in a diet

26:31 - 26:36

video for example so so I'm curious why

26:34 - 26:38

why not just I just have a hard time

26:36 - 26:40

promoting in general I just I just don't

26:38 - 26:43

feel good about it I feel like I've I've

26:40 - 26:45

definitely lost out on a lot of money

26:43 - 26:46

opportunities because Integrity is

26:45 - 26:48

important to me yeah yeah and not say

26:46 - 26:49

like I'm not not to say like I can't

26:48 - 26:50

promote my own business I just it just

26:49 - 26:52

makes me feel and then I'd say

26:50 - 26:54

underneath that would be like all other

26:52 - 26:56

social media platforms would be like

26:54 - 26:58

Snapchat Facebook any sort of like

26:56 - 27:00

oneoff Instagram things really do that

26:58 - 27:02

much stuff on there and don't do and I

27:00 - 27:04

don't do Tik Tok so just why not Tik Tok

27:02 - 27:06

don't like it okay yeah don't like Tik

27:04 - 27:08

Tok I don't like shorts in general I

27:06 - 27:10

hate them I hate shorts you only have

27:08 - 27:12

four original ones I think on the yeah

27:10 - 27:14

yep that's fair that's fair you have the

27:12 - 27:17

long form uh mentality you also did

27:14 - 27:20

Creator Le business which is the be good

27:17 - 27:22

Bakery curious how did that start and

27:20 - 27:24

how did it go so basically it started

27:22 - 27:26

because I mean I love donuts was like

27:24 - 27:28

the first one and then Canadian

27:26 - 27:29

important yeah and everyone was like

27:28 - 27:30

like well like because back in the day

27:29 - 27:31

when I was cooking a lot they like you

27:30 - 27:33

got to make like eventually come up with

27:31 - 27:35

a protein donut and like I why donut

27:33 - 27:37

specifically cuz like I'm a I've been I

27:35 - 27:38

just I eat them like I have like a

27:37 - 27:40

literally my grandma made me a painting

27:38 - 27:43

of donuts and it's it's in my it's in my

27:40 - 27:43

like condo on the wall yeah yeah but

27:43 - 27:45

yeah everyone's just like you got to

27:43 - 27:46

make protein donuts and I was already

27:45 - 27:48

thinking about that before people even

27:46 - 27:49

started saying it so I've always wanted

27:48 - 27:51

to do it so we kind of came up with

27:49 - 27:53

these like um they like protein dnut

27:51 - 27:55

holes and the the challenge with these

27:53 - 27:56

ones is that it's such a unique product

27:55 - 27:58

that's not been done before and they're

27:56 - 28:01

all so filled that it became this like

27:58 - 28:03

very expensive hard thing to do that a

28:01 - 28:04

lot of like the people who do these like

28:03 - 28:06

protein things didn't even have the

28:04 - 28:08

equipment to do it okay so we actually

28:06 - 28:11

had to buy the equipment to make these

28:08 - 28:13

things oh wow okay so that was a big

28:11 - 28:14

investment up front for you yes yeah

28:13 - 28:15

that and then also it's like you're

28:14 - 28:16

dealing with people who have never made

28:15 - 28:19

these before they're used making protein

28:16 - 28:21

bars and it was like extremely hard to

28:19 - 28:23

make the product in general like it was

28:21 - 28:26

like how would you find all those like

28:23 - 28:27

are you googling are you taking uh so we

28:26 - 28:29

working so we working with somebody the

28:27 - 28:30

guy who like ended up like making these

28:29 - 28:33

was like he knew like some contacts in

28:30 - 28:34

China to like we had to build the molds

28:33 - 28:36

at the beginning we had someone actually

28:34 - 28:39

literally injecting each individual one

28:36 - 28:40

with cream holy so it wasn't sustainable

28:39 - 28:42

and also was like it made it very

28:40 - 28:45

inconsistent so we also had to develop

28:42 - 28:47

machinery for injecting stuff so it got

28:45 - 28:49

to this point that it was like it was

28:47 - 28:51

such a novel item yeah that it kind of

28:49 - 28:52

bit Us in the ass but in theory it's a

28:51 - 28:54

great product it's just one of those

28:52 - 28:56

things I think that we're just too small

28:54 - 28:58

of a company to do it that it was it was

28:56 - 29:01

very hard to be successful about it so

28:58 - 29:02

did it run for a while or was it a yes

29:01 - 29:04

we ran so like we did our we did our

29:02 - 29:06

minimum order and we sold we sold it

29:04 - 29:08

like like everyone bought it yeah was it

29:06 - 29:11

sold out instantly no not instantly it

29:08 - 29:13

was over like I mean couple months oh

29:11 - 29:14

okay yeah yeah so that was that one and

29:13 - 29:16

then after we came up with the protein

29:14 - 29:17

powder which is a whe casium blend and

29:16 - 29:18

the reason we could do that is because

29:17 - 29:20

it's really good for baking I do a lot

29:18 - 29:21

of baking with protein powder and it

29:20 - 29:23

keeps when it's a whe casium blend it

29:21 - 29:25

makes it more moist versus isolates dry

29:23 - 29:27

one thing that I learned doing this is

29:25 - 29:29

that you have to like stay true to what

29:27 - 29:30

you want and not listen to what other

29:29 - 29:32

people want to do like we were working

29:30 - 29:33

with a bigger company doing this and I

29:32 - 29:35

really wanted to come out with a glazed

29:33 - 29:37

donut flavor my audience would resonate

29:35 - 29:38

with it and they'd be excited about it

29:37 - 29:40

but they were like oh no well the most

29:38 - 29:41

popular protein flavor is vanilla so we

29:40 - 29:43

got to do vanilla and I'm like I don't

29:41 - 29:45

know they're like let's just do vanilla

29:43 - 29:46

first well we're doing vanilla first and

29:45 - 29:49

then we'll do this after you didn't have

29:46 - 29:52

a say or it was like I I had a say but

29:49 - 29:53

no I kind of didn't and it was just like

29:52 - 29:54

I was I didn't feel great about it and

29:53 - 29:56

then it's like you're releasing a

29:54 - 29:58

vanilla protein powder online there's no

29:56 - 30:00

urge to buy it cuz everyone has vanilla

29:58 - 30:01

protein powder there's no like unique

30:00 - 30:03

component so was like it didn't do as

30:01 - 30:05

well as it could it annoys me to this

30:03 - 30:07

day I guess like overall it was a good

30:05 - 30:08

experience cuz now I know like what I

30:07 - 30:10

want to do I'm going to be firm on it

30:08 - 30:12

yeah yeah I mean it's your product makes

30:10 - 30:15

sense in terms of ownership did you own

30:12 - 30:17

100% of this was it split with the

30:15 - 30:20

manufacturer split manufacturer okay not

30:17 - 30:22

exactly like 50/50 but who had more I

30:20 - 30:24

did okay okay yeah yeah what amount of

30:22 - 30:27

Subs were you when you first started

30:24 - 30:29

thinking about it 1.4 million yeah so

30:27 - 30:31

for any other creator is out there what

30:29 - 30:33

would you give as advice if they are to

30:31 - 30:36

be embarked in a journey of Creator Le

30:33 - 30:37

business like that listen to yourself

30:36 - 30:40

the thing is you know your audience

30:37 - 30:41

better than anybody like and it's like

30:40 - 30:43

just because you listen you're working

30:41 - 30:45

with a marketing team that thinks that

30:43 - 30:46

they know like everything they don't

30:45 - 30:48

they don't know the audience like you do

30:46 - 30:50

you upload the videos you interact with

30:48 - 30:53

the comments so don't listen to like

30:50 - 30:55

that advice because I know if I listened

30:53 - 30:56

to myself and and like was patient with

30:55 - 30:58

it and like didn't let people walk all

30:56 - 30:59

over me I would have been so much

30:58 - 31:01

happier with it wanting to promote it

30:59 - 31:03

and who knows probably would still be

31:01 - 31:04

going on right now yeah true it's

31:03 - 31:06

something you I guess think about but

31:04 - 31:08

you can also use that for the next yeah

31:06 - 31:10

so like I mean that doesn't mean I'm

31:08 - 31:12

like I'm Giving Up on creating products

31:10 - 31:13

for myself that's that was just a lesson

31:12 - 31:15

learned I'm happy it happened and it's

31:13 - 31:17

just going to make the next time better

31:15 - 31:21

so we're back in this kitchen where a

31:17 - 31:22

lot of your viewers saw it often in the

31:21 - 31:26

videos right CU you have this funny

31:22 - 31:27

story here where how did you leave here

31:26 - 31:29

yeah so basically I was doing all my

31:27 - 31:31

videos was at home and then my mom

31:29 - 31:33

decided that she wanted to renovate the

31:31 - 31:35

house every single day for like months

31:33 - 31:37

there'd be like four Dudes in the front

31:35 - 31:38

hall and I'd be in here naked with my

31:37 - 31:39

apron on and I would have to go over to

31:38 - 31:41

them and be like hey guys can you just

31:39 - 31:42

stop filming for a couple minutes and I

31:41 - 31:44

hated them and they hated me so like the

31:42 - 31:46

hatred was Mutual I guess it was like it

31:44 - 31:47

was like a blessing in disguise for my

31:46 - 31:48

parents because it kind of forced me to

31:47 - 31:50

move out noise because of the

31:48 - 31:51

construction conru moved out yeah

31:50 - 31:52

because there's so many times I'd be

31:51 - 31:53

filming and all a sudden you hear like

31:52 - 31:55

the drill go and I'd be like getting

31:53 - 31:56

like pissed off so i' be like I have to

31:55 - 31:58

leave so I mean if it wasn't for that I

31:56 - 32:00

could be I'd be living in my basement

31:58 - 32:01

maybe like eating TV dinners like I

32:00 - 32:02

don't know kind of made me grow up

32:01 - 32:05

pretty fast that may have been why

32:02 - 32:08

you've grown basically that 1 million to

32:05 - 32:10

3 million right and I'm curious in that

32:08 - 32:13

era how how was growth like uh what were

32:10 - 32:15

you doing to to optimize content I think

32:13 - 32:18

uh the zero to a million was like my

32:15 - 32:20

learning phase okay and then the one to

32:18 - 32:22

2 million is like the refining of what I

32:20 - 32:23

learned mhm and I think now like the two

32:22 - 32:24

to like where I'm currently at it's kind

32:23 - 32:26

of just like never I'm not like

32:24 - 32:28

mastering it but it's just polishing I

32:26 - 32:30

think every video is there's more of

32:28 - 32:32

like a an intention it doesn't seem like

32:30 - 32:33

a gamble now there's like a method to it

32:32 - 32:35

there's data behind it I feel like I'm

32:33 - 32:37

optimizing the best I can right now it's

32:35 - 32:39

just been the most consistent I've been

32:37 - 32:41

and like the happiest I've been so after

32:39 - 32:43

5 years now you would say it's the

32:41 - 32:45

happiest you've ever been in creating oh

32:43 - 32:46

absolutely what makes you so happy now

32:45 - 32:48

you would say I think there's like an

32:46 - 32:50

actual like balance in my life yeah it's

32:48 - 32:51

not just like so consuming I think I'm

32:50 - 32:53

actually like making what I want to make

32:51 - 32:55

and not forcing out content I feel like

32:53 - 32:57

I always had to post twice a week once a

32:55 - 32:58

week and it's it's it's okay to take

32:57 - 33:00

time off and like they're not your

32:58 - 33:02

subscribers are not going to kill you

33:00 - 33:03

right it's like you're human so it's

33:02 - 33:04

just like you have time you have like

33:03 - 33:05

you have time to breathe and like you

33:04 - 33:07

have time to like live your life and

33:05 - 33:10

it's just a nice thing it's an addition

33:07 - 33:11

to my life now it's not my consumed like

33:10 - 33:13

everything what's the future looking

33:11 - 33:15

like for the channel what are your goals

33:13 - 33:17

I think my goals are to maintain what

33:15 - 33:19

I'm doing right now cuz I I feel like

33:17 - 33:20

I'm on a good streak where like things

33:19 - 33:23

are going well and like videos are

33:20 - 33:24

consistently performing good and I kind

33:23 - 33:26

of want to keep that up and it's going

33:24 - 33:27

to be a challenge but I think with what

33:26 - 33:28

I got planned it's going to be it's

33:27 - 33:29

going to happen

33:28 - 33:31

yeah and then I guess I guess like 5

33:29 - 33:33

million subscribers is like not like the

33:31 - 33:36

overall goal but it's like the next like

33:33 - 33:39

it's like one five right 10 so yeah

33:36 - 33:41

those are nice goal objective numbers

33:39 - 33:43

but what's the mission of the channel

33:41 - 33:44

let's say for the next 5 10 years I

33:43 - 33:45

don't know I I I think that there's a

33:44 - 33:47

lot of pressure on people to have like a

33:45 - 33:49

really deep answer for this one to like

33:47 - 33:50

make this like huge impact and I always

33:49 - 33:52

say like making someone laugh is a big

33:50 - 33:54

enough impact yeah so just to continue

33:52 - 33:55

what I'm doing and not to put too much

33:54 - 33:57

pressure on having a huge message for

33:55 - 33:59

every video but just just continue to be

33:57 - 34:01

me and not any controversy and just stay

33:59 - 34:03

in my lane and no that's great and I'm

34:01 - 34:05

sure a lot of people come to you and say

34:03 - 34:07

it's because of you that they've started

34:05 - 34:08

Fitness Jour does that does that happen

34:07 - 34:10

that yeah and that's definitely like

34:08 - 34:11

like motivates me to keep pushing and

34:10 - 34:13

then I go to these like events in like

34:11 - 34:14

Miami coming up and you know you meet

34:13 - 34:16

all these people and you know I only

34:14 - 34:18

ever see like my camera I never actually

34:16 - 34:20

see anyone who who takes in everything

34:18 - 34:22

so it's cool to like see the impact and

34:20 - 34:23

like how happy they get and it just

34:22 - 34:26

makes me want to do it more when you're

34:23 - 34:28

at those events it it motivates you it's

34:26 - 34:30

not overwhelming it's

34:28 - 34:31

of and it's very humbling and it's it's

34:30 - 34:33

like an honor that people like wait in

34:31 - 34:34

line for you like it's it's hard to

34:33 - 34:35

believe and I will never get over it you

34:34 - 34:37

know a lot of times I'll meet people and

34:35 - 34:38

I like I'll recognize like their

34:37 - 34:39

comments and it's just nice to like be

34:38 - 34:42

able to meet the community and yeah it

34:39 - 34:44

just makes me feel good nice yeah and a

34:42 - 34:46

final question what's what's your big

34:44 - 34:48

dream for a lot of people you living the

34:46 - 34:51

dream right but what's what's your dream

34:48 - 34:54

oh man just have a family be happy be

34:51 - 34:56

healthy okay um not have to worry not to

34:54 - 34:58

be stressed and just be around my family

34:56 - 34:59

nothing nothing fancy I think that when

34:58 - 35:01

I was younger it was like Money

34:59 - 35:03

Motivated material motivated but I think

35:01 - 35:04

that when you get older it matters so

35:03 - 35:06

much less and you realize you don't need

35:04 - 35:07

nearly as much money as you thought you

35:06 - 35:09

did and the things that matter are your

35:07 - 35:11

health and your family so if I'm good

35:09 - 35:13

and like I'm happy and I can do what I

35:11 - 35:15

want to do in a low stress environment

35:13 - 35:16

then I'm I'm winning well you're

35:15 - 35:18

definitely in the right path for that

35:16 - 35:22

andk you're showing it to everyone

35:18 - 35:23

thanks for joining us on appr yeah till

35:22 - 35:26

next time guys I'm in one of the coldest

35:23 - 35:28

city on the planet to interview wi tenis

35:26 - 35:30

and the only thing I'm asking is to

35:28 - 35:31

subscribe and watch all their videos all

35:30 - 35:33

right I'm going to try to survive now

35:31 - 35:33

peace
